Heater Control Valve: Service and Repair

HEATER CONTROL VALVE AND HEATER HOSES

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

NOTE: Lubricate the coolant hoses with plain water only if needed.

1. Position the vehicle on a hoist with the gear selector in NEUTRAL.
2. Remove the engine air cleaner outlet tube.
3. If removing the heater tube assembly, remove the fresh air inlet duct.
4. If removing a heater hose or the heater tube assembly, or if equipped with a 3.9L engine, drain the engine cooling system.
5. If removing the dual coolant control valve on vehicles with a 3.0L engine, clamp off the heater hoses at the component before disconnecting.
6. If equipped with a 3.9L engine and removing a heater hose, the dual coolant control valve or the auxiliary coolant flow pump, disconnect the upper radiator hose at the engine







7. To remove individual components, only carry out the steps.

10. Fill the engine cooling system.
