DOOR PANEL WOOD TRIM INSERT (APPLIQUE)
CRACKING ON DRIVERS SIDE FRONT DOOR

LINCOLN:
2007-2008 Navigator

ISSUE
Some 2007-2008 Navigator vehicles may exhibit the drivers side front door wood trim insert (applique) cracking or breaking due to impact from the seat belt tongue when releasing the seat belt from the buckle.

ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

Install a drivers side front door seat belt retaining web button and replace door wood trim insert (applique).

1. Remove the drivers front door trim panel, per Work Shop Manual (WSM), Section 501-05.

2. Once door panel is off, remove retainers to remove door wood trim insert (applique) and replace. Re-install door panel.

3. Using the Instruction Sheet supplied with the seat belt retaining web button, install a web button to the new measurement of 6-17/32" (166 mm) from the web D-ring at the B-pillar. This will reposition the seat belt tongue to a higher position to avoid hitting the panel when unlatching the seat belt from the buckle.

NOTE
DISREGARD THE INSTRUCTION SHEET MEASUREMENT OF 356 MM FOR THE WEB BUTTON POSITION ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. THE PASSENGERS SIDE REMAINS THE SAME.

NOTE
DO NOT TRAP THE SEAT BELT TONGUE BETWEEN THE 2 WEB BUTTONS.

WARRANTY STATUS: Eligible Under Provisions Of New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage
