Pinpoint Test BH: DTC U0102:00

Normal Operation
- DTC U0102:00 (Lost Communication With Transfer Case Control Module: No Sub-Type Information) - sets in the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) if data messages received from the 4X4 control module over the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN) are missing for greater than 5 seconds. For a complete list of all network messages, refer to Information Bus.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- 4X4 control module
- IPC



PINPOINT TEST BH: DTC U0102:00

BH1 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN


- Ignition ON.
- Verify that there is an observable symptom present.
- Is an observable symptom present?

Yes
GO to BH2.

No
The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.

BH2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK


- Ignition ON.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Network Test .
- Carry out the network test.
- Does the 4X4 control module pass the network test?

Yes
GO to BH3.

No
REFER to Information Bus.

BH3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE IPC SELF-TEST


- Check for recorded DTCs from the IPC self-test.
- Is DTC U3003:16 or DTC U3003:17 recorded?

Yes
GO to Pinpoint Test BX (U3003:16) or GO to Pinpoint Test BY (U3003:17). Pinpoint Tests BX: DTC U3003:16 Pinpoint Tests BY: DTC U3003:17

No
GO to BH4.

BH4 RECHECK THE IPC DTCs


NOTE: If new modules were installed prior to the DTC being set, the module configuration may be incorrectly set during the Programmable Module Installation (PMI) or the PMI may not have been carried out.

- Clear the DTCs. Repeat the IPC self-test.
- Is DTC U0102:00 still present?

Yes
GO to BH5.

No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.

BH5 CHECK FOR DTC U0114, U0114:00 or U1900 SET IN OTHER MODULES


- Clear all DTCs.
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Self-Test .
- Retrieve the continuous memory DTCs from all modules.
- Is DTC U0114, U0114:00 or U1900 set in the ABS?

Yes
INSTALL a new 4X4 control module. REFER to Transfer Case. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

No
INSTALL a new IPC. REFER to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). TEST the system for normal operation.
