Selector Lever Cable
Removal
1. Remove the selector lever bezel. For additional information, refer to Selector Lever Bezel Selector Lever Bezel.
2. Remove the rubber storage tray.
3. Remove the access panel.
4. Disconnect the selector lever cable end from the selector lever ballstud.
5. Depress the 2 tabs and remove the selector lever cable from the selector lever.
6. Pull the LH center console lower trim panel away from the center console to release the retaining clip. Position aside the LH center console lower trim panel to access the selector lever cable.
7. Pull the carpet back away from the floor and center console far enough to access the selector lever cable grommet nuts and the retainer.
8. Disconnect the selector lever cable retainer from the floor and position the cable aside.
9. Remove the selector lever cable grommet nuts.
10. NOTE: Note the routing of the selector lever cable under the heater housing for assembly.
Route the selector lever cable from under the HVAC unit. Pull the selector lever cable through the HVAC vent tunnel until the end is behind the LH front floor vent and position the selector lever cable aside.
11. Remove the Air Cleaner (ACL) and outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to Intake Air Distribution and Filtering Intake Air System Components - Exploded View.
12. Disconnect the selector lever cable retainer from the brake tube bracket.
13. Disconnect the selector lever cable end from the manual control lever.
14. Depress the 2 tabs, remove the selector lever cable from the bracket and remove the selector lever cable through the inside of the vehicle.
Installation
1. Position the selector lever cable in the vehicle and install the cable in the bracket.
- Be sure the tabs are locked in place.
2. Connect the selector lever cable retainer on the brake tube bracket.
3. Route the selector lever cable under the HVAC unit as noted during disassembly.
4. Position the selector lever cable grommet in place and install the 2 nuts.
- Tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).
5. Connect the selector lever cable retainer to the floor.
6. Position the carpet in place.
7. Position the center console lower trim panel in place and install the retainer in the center console.
8. Install the selector lever cable in the selector lever.
- Be sure the tabs are locked in place.
9. Connect the selector lever cable end to the selector lever ballstud.
10. Install the access panel.
11. Install the rubber storage tray.
12. Install the selector lever bezel. For additional information, refer to Selector Lever Bezel Selector Lever Bezel.
13. Place the selector lever in DRIVE.
14. Place the manual control lever in DRIVE.
1. Rotate the manual control lever clockwise until it stops.
2. Rotate the manual control lever counterclockwise one detent.
15. Unlock the adjuster by sliding the locking tab over.
16. Slide the selector lever cable end forward or backward to align it with the manual control lever.
17. With the adjuster locking tab unlocked, connect the selector lever cable end to the manual control lever.
18. Slide the adjuster tab to the LOCK position.
19. Install the ACL and outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to Intake Air Distribution and Filtering Intake Air System Components - Exploded View.
20. Verify that the vehicle starts in PARK and NEUTRAL only and that the reverse lamps illuminate in REVERSE.
