Engine Speed Switch: Testing and Inspection
1. Run engine until it reaches normal operating temperature.
2. Connect voltmeter to terminals of engine speed switch.
3. Increase engine speed to 1500 RPM, then slowly decrease engine speed and record engine speed at which current flows to circuit which should be 900 to 1000 RPM on 1982-83 models or 1000 to 1100 RPM on 1984 models.
4. Slowly increase engine speed and record engine speed at which current does not flow to circuit.
5. If difference between two recorded engine speeds is not 50 to 120 RPM, replace engine speed switch.
