Description: Reports have been received of the fuel control system indicating fixed duty.

Repair
Procedures: The most probable cause of fixed duty is a loose vacuum hose or a hose not reconnected after routine service. A loose or disconnected vacuum hose can result in a fuel control system fixed duty 0 or 26~ with a possible simultaneous warning of Code 5 (faulty O2 sensor) on the System Checker.

A vacuum leak to the vacuum switch or vacuum sensor will cause fixed duty 0. A vacuum leak at any other location will result in either fixed duty 26~ and Code 5 on the System Checker or low duty readings (5~ - 30~), depending on the severity of the leak.

Fuel Control System:

During P.D.I., routine service, or any time a fixed duty is encountered, check the vacuum hoses at the locations shown.
