Description: On some early production 1983 626, a noise in the audio system may occur because of improper grounding of the DIN-cord (amplifier wire) to the tuner. An improper ground of the DIN-cord can cause an excessive noise when:

^ The engine is running (alternator and ignition noise).

^ Electrical components are operated (blower motor, windshield wiper, etc.).

^ The audio balance stick is operated (if equipped).

Part GB17 66 970B - for ETR
Numbers: GA97 66 970C - for mechanical tuner

Checking Procedure:

DIN-Cord:

1. Remove the DIN-cord from the back of the tuner and amplifier or balance stick.

Center Wire Of DIN-Cord:

Use an ohmmeter to check the continuity of the center wire (ground wire) of the DIN-cord as shown. If there is no continuity or continuity varies when the DIN-cord is shaken, replace the DIN-cord.
