The EGR warning light will illuminate after the first 60,000 miles. This indicates that the ignition timing should be checked and adjusted as necessary and that the O2 sensor, EGR control valve, hose and tube and the PCV valve should be inspected and repaired or replaced as necessary.
After the adjustments or repairs are made, reset light by disconnecting ground connector from combination meter,Fig. 2, wrapping connector with tape to prevent shorting, starting engine and ensuring light does not illuminate.
