Air Injection Pump: Testing and Inspection

1. Run engine until it reaches normal operating temperature, then inspect hoses and connections for leaks and repair or replace as necessary.
2. Check air pump for excessive noise, replacing as necessary.
3. Check tension of air pump drive belt, adjusting as necessary.
4. Disconnect air hose between air pump and air control valve at air control valve.
5. Connect suitable tester to hose and install tachometer.
6. Start engine and run at idle.
7. If gage does not read more than 1.64 psi at 800 RPM, replace pump.
