SUBJECT Modification of ACC Checker
DESCRIPTION
On 1986 RX-7 vehicles with Automatic Transmission, it is found that checking the Cruise Control System with ACC Checker (P/N 0000-41-100-81) will damage the 4 A/T Control Unit for the Overdrive System. For this reason, it is very important that the ACC Checker (P/N 0000-41-100-81) is modified as shown below.
MODIFICATION PROCEDURE
1. "CUT" the lead wire at terminal #6 indicated on ACC Checker connector.
2. Tape exposed end of wire cut in Step 1 as shown.
This modification does not affect the usage of the ACC Checker except when using on 1981 RX-7 and 626 vehicles. When the modified ACC Checker is used on these vehicles, follow the procedures listed below.
1. Use a jumper wire and jump across terminal #6 to #3 indicated on ACC Checker connector as shown.
2. Follow the ACC Checker instructions.
CAUTION:
Because 12V is applied to #3 terminal, always be careful not to ground the jumper wire or connect it to a different terminal or it will damage the ACC checker or vehicle.
