Fig. 13 Reed Valve Inspection.:

1. Remove the air cleaner cover and element.
2. Start the engine and run it at idle speed. Place a thin piece of paper over inlet port and ensure air is sucked in Fig. 13.
3. Increase the engine speed to 1,500 rpm and check for exhaust gas leakage at the air inlet fitting by placing a thin piece of paper over the port; no gas should leak.
