EGR Valve: Testing and Inspection

1. Warm engine to normal operating temperature and run at idle.
2. Disconnect vacuum hose from EGR control valve and plug hose.
3. If engine roughens, clean exhaust gas passage in valve or replace valve. Before replacing valve, check intake air and control systems.
4. Attach suitable vacuum pump to valve and apply vacuum.
5. If engine does not roughen or die at 1.57---2.26 inches Hg on 626 Turbo models, or 1.57---2.36 inches Hg on other models, clean or replace valve.
