1. Run engine until normal operating temperature is reached and continue to run at idle.
2. Connect a dwellmeter to yellow/green check connector, Fig. 5, and ensure 25---45° dwell is indicated on 1987 models or 27---45° dwell is indicated on 1988 models.
3. Gradually increase engine speed and ensure dwellmeter indicates approximately 18° above 4000. If dwell is not as specified, check oxygen sensor, feedback control unit and associated wiring harnesses, then adjust with mixture adjustment screw.
4. Ground the yellow/green check connector using a suitable jumper wire and ensure engine speed increases. If engine speed does not increase, clean or replace the jet mixture solenoid valve or service carburetor as necessary. Clean valve using suitable solvent and compressed air. Do not submerge valve in solvent.
