EGR Control Solenoid: Testing and Inspection

Vent Valve

1. Disconnect vacuum line from EGR valve.
2. Blow air through vent tube and ensure air flows through valve.
3. Disconnect electrical connector from duty solenoid valve.
4. Apply battery voltage to solenoid valve terminals.
5. Blow through vent tube and ensure air does not flow through valve.
6. If operation is not as described, replace valve.

Vacuum Valve

1. Disconnect vacuum line between duty solenoid valve and intake manifold at manifold end.
2. Blow through vacuum line and ensure air does not flow through valve.
3. Disconnect electrical connector from duty solenoid valve.
4. Apply battery voltage to solenoid valve terminals.
5. Blow through vacuum line and ensure air flows through valve.
6. If operation is not as described, replace valve.
