EGR Control Solenoid: Testing and Inspection

VENT SIDE

1. Disconnect vacuum hoses.
2. Blow through vent hose, Fig. 17, and ensure air flows.
3. Disconnect solenoid valve electrical connector.
4. Apply 12 volts and ground to valve, Fig. 17.
5. Blow through vent hose and ensure air does not flow.
6. If air flow is not as described, replace solenoid valve.

VACUUM SIDE

1. Disconnect vacuum hose.
2. Blow through vacuum hose, Fig. 19, and ensure air does not flow.
3. Disconnect solenoid valve electrical connector.
4. Apply 12 volts and a ground to valve, Fig. 19.
5. Blow through vacuum hose and ensure air flows.
6. If airflow is not as described, replace solenoid valves.
