Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Barometric Pressure Sensor: Testing and Inspection

Fig. 16 Atmospheric pressure sensor & vacuum sensor terminal identification:

1. Remove left side kick panel to gain access to atmospheric pressure sensor.
2. Remove rubber cap and attach a hand vacuum pump to sensor port.
3. With ignition switch in the On position, measure voltage between each terminal and ground while applying and releasing approximately 30 inches Hg vacuum to the sensor.
4. Voltage should measure less than 1.5 volt at terminal A, 4.5-5.5 volts at terminal B, approximately 12 volts at terminal C and 1.4-4.9 volts at terminal D, Fig. 16. If voltage at terminals A, B and/or C is not as specified, check wiring harness and correct as necessary. If voltage at terminals A, B and C is correct, but terminal D is not, replace the atmospheric sensor.
