1. Remove rear seat and fuel filler cap, then turn ignition switch to On position. Tank should be at least 1/3 full. Due to delay timer, transfer pump operation begins approximately 10 seconds after ignition switch is turned to On position.
2. Listen for operational sound of transfer pump, then install fuel filler cap.
3. If no sound was heard, check voltage at transfer pump connector, Fig. 47. There should be approximately 12 volts at WG wire terminal and zero volts at B wire terminal.
4. If voltages are as described, replace transfer pump.
5. If voltages are not as described, disconnect transfer pump connector and check terminal as in step 3.
6. If voltages are as described, replace transfer pump.
7. If voltages are not as described, check voltages at terminals of fuel pump control unit, Fig. 48. Voltage at B wire terminal should be approximately 12 volts and voltage at BW wire terminal should be zero volts.
8. If voltages are as described, replace fuel pump control unit.
9. If voltages are not as described, repair power supply circuit and the ground circuit for fuel pump control unit.
