Power Steering Hose - Revised Ground Bolt Length

DESCRIPTION

On 1988 626/MX-6 (Turbo, w/o A/C, w/o 4WS) it has been found that the power steering hose between the fluid reservoir and the steering gear may contact the engine mount bracket. This bracket is located near the strut tower on the right front inner fender.

If you encounter this problem on a new or already delivered vehicle within the VIN range listed, please refer to the repair procedure shown in this bulletin.



REPAIR PROCEDURE

Check the distance between the power steering hose and ground bolt at the location shown. If the distance is less than 4 mm (0.16 in), move the hose away from the bracket to provide adequate clearance.

NOTE:

1. A.S.S.B. - Automatic Shoulder Seat Belt

2. The length of the ground bolt has been shortened from 16 mm to 12 mm at the production line since July 14, 1987. *

Also, the modification has been made on the vehicles with VIN starting 1YVGD31A J5100001, 1YVGD31B J5100001, 1YVGD31C J5100001 (produced by MMUC). Therefore, these vehicles are no longer affected.
