DESCRIPTION

For 1988 626/MX-6, the following four modifications (A, B, C, D) to the valve body and the inner parts have been phased in, in order to correct the slippage and/or chatter when shifting from D1 - D2 and to reduce the shift shock when shifting from D1 - D2 or D2 - D3.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Check if the vehicle is non-turbo or turbo.
2. Verify the transaxle unit No. (Refer to the following illustration.)
3. Carry out the applicable repair to the transaxle, based on the unit No.

[Non-Turbo]
a. Transaxles of unit No. FU--000001 - FU--081064 Replace valve body assembly.
b. Transaxles of unit No. FU--081065 - FU--089582 Replace 1-2 accumulator springs and install one-way orifice.
c. Transaxles of unit No. FU--089583 - Repair is not necessary. These transaxles have already been modified.

[Turbo]
a. Transaxles of unit No. FU--000001 - FU--081142 Replace valve body assembly.
b. Transaxles of unit No. FU--081143 - FU--083279 Replace 1-2 accumulator springs and install one-way orifice.
c. Transaxles of unit No. FU--083280 - FU--089439 Install one-way orifice.
d. Transaxles of unit No. FU--089440 - Repair is not necessary. These transaxles have already been modified.
