ATF LEAKAGE FROM COOLER LINE Issued 5/24/89
Revised
DESCRIPTION
The following modifications have been made to 1988 626/MX-6 ECAT in order to prevent ATF from leaking from the cooler line.
MODIFICATION A
The "U"-shaped oil hose and connector pipe at the thermo switch box have been replaced with an oil line as shown.
If you observe any leakage from this part, replace the oil pipe with the modified one according to the repair procedure in this bulletin.
MODIFICATION B
To provide more clamping force, the length of the bolts at the hose clamps on the cooler line has been increased. If you encounter a complaint of oil leakage at the oil hose, install a new hose with modified clamps.

PARTS INFORMATION
NOTE: It is not necessary to replace the Thermo Switch Box for this operation unless the original is damaged.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Disassemble the U-shaped oil hose, connector pipe, washer, and oil pipe.
2. Assemble the modified oil pipe and washers to the thermo switch box and ECAT housing and tighten by hand. Tighten all bolts and assemblies to the specifications listed as "A", "B" and "C". Tighten the hose clamps on the cooler line until the dimension listed in "D" is obtained.
A: 69-95 in.lb. (80-110 kg-m) B: 18-26 ft.lb. (2.4-3.6 kg-m) C: 23-30 ft.lb. (3.14.1 kg-m) D: 0.29-0.33 in. (7.3-8.3 mm) - After Modification B 0.20-0.24 in. (5.0-6.0 mm) - Before Modification B
NOTE:
1) Check the surface of the washer seat on the Thermo Switch Box before assembling. And if you find a dent, replace the thermo switch box since there may be a possibility that oil may leak from this area after assembling.
2) The length of the bolt at hose clamps is different before and after Modification B. Therefore, tighten the hose clamps correctly according to the standard value. Please note if the hose clamps are too loose, it may cause oil leakage or if the hose clamps are too tight, the shape of the pipe is deformed and may cause oil leakage.
