Deceleration Valve: Testing and Inspection

1. Disconnect carburetor electrical connector, turn ignition "ON", and check voltage at harness connector terminals with B/W wires.

^ Should be battery voltage.

If not, check wiring for open or short to ground.

2. Re-connect carb electrical connector, start engine and warm up to operating temperature, then let idle.

3. Ground the "H" terminal of carb electrical connector (Br/B wire) with a jumper wire.

^ Solenoid should "click" and idle speed should increase when terminal is grounded.

If solenoid clicks but idle speed does not change, remove solenoid and check that spring, valve, and O-ring seal are properly installed. If OK, air/fuel passages, jets or air bleeds in the carburetor may be plugged. If solenoid does not click and engine speed does not change, replace solenoid valve.
