Engine - Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch: Testing and Inspection

Water Thermosensor Inspection:






1. Disconnect water thermosensor connector.
2. Connect an ohmmeter to sensor terminals.
3. Check sensor resistance:

K OHMS COOLANT TEMP.

14.5 - 17.8 -20°C / -4°F
2.2 - 2.7 20°C / 68°F
1.0 - 1.3 40°C / 104°F
0.5 - 0.7 60°C / 140°F
0.28 - 0.35 80°C / 176°F

4. Replace sensor if resistance values are out of specification.

Water thermosensor input voltage can be checked at ECU terminal 2I with ignition switch "ON."
