Catalytic Converter: Description and Operation
Exhaust System:
To reduce CO, HC, and NOx emissions, the three way catalytic converter is used on these vehicles. The
catalytic converter oxidizes CO and HC and reduces NOx by a chemical reaction. The active materials in the converter are platinum and rhodium and it has a volume of 2640 cc (161 ci) for California and 2370 cc (144.6 ci) for Federal and Canadian markets.
