Crankshaft Position Sensor: Description and Operation

Crank Angle Sensor:

The crank angle sensor, located at the right rear end of the cylinder head, generates two signals monitored by the ECU.

The "G" signal detects #1 cylinder TDC and is utilized by the ECU to calculate fuel injection and ignition timing.

The "Ne" signal detects crank angle at 180° intervals (engine rpm) and is utilized by the ECU in its control calculations for several output devices:

Fuel injection timing and quantity
Idle speed control valve
Purge control solenoid valve
Ignition timing control (igniter)
