Ignition System: Description and Operation
Electronic Spark Advance (ESA) System:
The Electronic Spark Advance (ESA) System provides for ECU controlled
ignition timing, replacing mechanical and vacuum advance mechanisms. The ECU determines optimum ignition timing throughout the engine operating range by calculating inputs from various sensors and switches. The ECU triggers the coil by an output signal to the
igniter.
