Crankshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair

CRANK ANGLE SENSOR


REMOVAL

1. Set eccentric shaft pulley to leading (Yellow) timing mark (eccentric shaft corresponds to crankshaft in a piston engine).
2. Unplug sensor electrical connector.
3. Remove sensor cap and lock bolt.
4. Lift sensor from engine.

INSTALLATION

Crank Angle Sensor Replacement:

1. Align matching marks on sensor housing and driven gear.
2. Check that eccentric shaft pulley is set to leading (Yellow) mark.
3. Install sensor and lock bolt.
4. Set ignition timing.
5. Tighten lock bolt to 69 - 95 in lb (7.8 - 10.8 Nm).
6. Install new sensor cap.
