Crankshaft Position Sensor: Description and Operation
PURPOSESensor sends a crankshaft position signal to the ECU for ignition timing and fuel injection timing calculations. The ECU also calculates engine speed by measuring time between signal pulses.
LOCATION
Front of engine near the crankshaft pulley.
OPERATION
This is an inductive pick-up type sensor that detects crank angle at 60° intervals.
