Ignition Control Module: Service and Repair

Ignition Module Assembly:





REMOVAL:

1. Disconnect the battery cables (Ranger and Explorer); only negative cable for Aerostar.
2. Remove the battery (Ranger and Explorer).
3. Disconnect electrical connector at module.
4. Remove module mounting bolt and remove module. On Ranger slide assembly up; on Aerostar slide toward front of vehicle, to release module from tear-drop hole in sheet metal.


INSTALLATION:

1. Insert rivet of module into tear-drop mounting hole in sheet metal and push into position. Install mounting bolt and tighten to specification. (SEE SPECIFICATIONS/MECHANICAL)
2. Connect electrical connector to module.
3. Connect the negative battery cable (Aerostar).
4. Install the battery and connect the cables (Ranger and Explorer).
