Idle Speed

Idle Speed Adjustment:






PREPARATION

1. Warm engine to operating temperature.
2. Turn all electrical loads "OFF."
3. Connect Mazda SST (49 B019 9A0) to data link connector. Set switch A to position 1.

NOTE: If SST is not used, connect jumper wire between terminals TEN and GND of data link connector.

4. Connect tachometer to data link connector terminal IG-.

ADJUSTMENT

1. If using SST, set test switch to SELF TEST and check if idle speed is within specification:

IDLE SPEED: 700 ± 50 rpm

2. If adjustment is needed, turn air adjusting screw until idle rpm is correct.

NOTE: Check and adjust idle speed with coolant can NOT running.

3. If correct speed cannot be obtained, check throttle body for wear, deposits, and coolant leakage. Also check for vacuum leaks.
4. Disconnect SST or remove jumper wire.
