Exhaust Gas Recirculation: Testing and Inspection
EGR System Inspection:
1.
Start engine and run at idle.
2.
Place finger against
EGR valve diaphragm and raise engine speed to about 2000 rpm.
3.
Verify that diaphragm moves as specified:
COLD ENGINE: Diaphragm does not move
WARM ENGINE: Diaphragm moves (coolant temperature above 122°F, 50°C)
