Power Steering Pressure Switch: Description and Operation

Checking Power Steering Switch:

PURPOSE
Detects when system pressure increases (turning steering wheel) to cause a load on the engine. PCME then adjusts idle speed to compensate.

LOCATION
On power steering pump.

OPERATION
Switch is "ON" when system pressure is high. PCME response to the "ON" signal is to raise idle speed as required by activating the ISC valve until the load decreases.
