The crank angle sensor in the electronic ignition system distributor generates two signals monitored by the ECU.

The "G" signal detects #1 cylinder TDC and is utilized by the ECU to calculate fuel injection timing.

The "Ne" signal is an engine speed (rpm) signal utilized by the ECU in its control calculations for several output devices:

^ Fuel injection timing and quantity
^ Idle speed control valve
^ Purge control solenoid valve
^ Pressure regulator control solenoid valve
^ Airflow sensor burn-off
^ Circuit opening relay
^ Ignition timing control (igniter)
