Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Brake Light Switch: Testing and Inspection

Stop Light Switch Testing:

1. Disconnect stop light switch switch connector.
2. Check switch continuity. With brake pedal depressed, there should be continuity between terminals. With brake pedal released, there should be no continuity between terminals.
3. Replace switch if it does not perform as specified.

Stop light switch input can be checked at ECU with ignition "ON." With pedal released, terminal voltage should be below 1.0V. With pedal depressed, voltage should be approximately 12V.
