Oxygen Sensor: Service and Repair

NOTE: Oxygen sensor wiring and connector are permanently attached. Attempted removal may damage the sensor and affect proper operation.

1. Disconnect sensor electrical harness from vehicle harness at connector.
2. Using a suitable tool, carefully unscrew and remove sensor from vehicle.

CAUTION: Sensor removal may be difficult if engine temperature is below 120°F. Excess force may damage threads.

3. If a new sensor is being installed, screw into place and torque to 30 - 35 ft lb (40 - 50 Nm).
4. If a sensor is being reinstalled, carefully apply anti-seize compound to threads, screw into place and torque as in step 3.
5. Reconnect electrical harness, taking care to route wiring away from exhaust pipe and manifold.
