Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Description and Operation

Neutral Switch:

PURPOSE
Informs PCME that transmission is either in neutral or any other gear. Input is used in PCME calculations for fuel injection quantity, idle speed, A/C cut-off, and purge control.

LOCATION
Side of transaxle.

OPERATION
This is an "ON/OFF" switch. When transmission is in neutral, switch is "ON" (shows continuity). In any other gear, switch is "OFF" (no continuity).

NOTE: Applies to MTX models only.
