Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

Preparation

SST:

Inspection
1. Lift out the Powertrain Control Module (Transmission) by referring to the Powertrain Control Module (Transmission) replacement procedure.
2. Disconnect the Powertrain Control Module (Transmission) connectors.

3. Connect the SSTs (Engine Signal Monitor and Adapter Harness) to the Powertrain Control Module (Transmission) as shown.

4. Place the SST (Sheet) on the Engine Signal Monitor.
5. Turn the ignition switch ON.
6. Measure the terminal voltage at each terminal.
7. If any Powertrain Control Module (Transmission) terminal voltage is incorrect, check the related input or output devices and wiring. If no problem is found, replace the Powertrain Control Module (Transmission).

CAUTION: Applying voltage to terminals A and B of this SST will damage the SST.

Terminal Voltage Chart (Reference Data)
The terminal 1D voltage [shift A solenoid valve] is below 1.0 V when in HOLD mode in P, R, and N ranges.
