Air Cleaner Housing: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Loosen outlet tube clamps from air cleaner cover and throttle body. Remove the outlet tube.
2. Disconnect the vacuum tubes to bi-metallic sensor in the air cleaner cover.
3. Disconnect the Mass Air Flow sensor electrical connection.
4. Disconnect the Intake Air Temperature sensor electrical connector.
5. Remove the two air cleaner cover retaining screws, then the air cleaner cover.
6. Remove the air filter element.
7. Reach inside the air cleaner tray and disconnect the air inlet tube.
8. Remove the air cleaner assembly retaining bolt, then remove the air cleaner housing from vehicle.


INSTALLATION
1. Install air cleaner assembly into position aligning studs with holes tray.
2. Install the retaining bolt. Tighten the bolt to 10 Nm (88 in.lb). DO NOT over tighten the nuts.
3. Install the air filter element.
4. Remove the air cleaner cover, then the two air cleaner cover retaining screws. Tighten the screws to 3 Nm (26 in.lb).
5. Connect the Intake Air Temperature sensor electrical connector.
6. Connect the Mass Air Flow sensor electrical connection.
7. Connect the vacuum tubes to bi-metallic sensor in the air cleaner cover.
8. Install the outlet tube. Tighten the outlet tube clamps at the air cleaner cover and throttle body.
