Spark Plug: Service and Repair



SPARK PLUG
Removal
- Remove the High-Tension Leads.

CAUTION: When the High-Tension Lead is to be pulled off, be sure to pull on the boot itself, not the lead.

- Remove and install the spark plug with a plug socket.


Install Spark Plug Socket Squarely Over Spark Plugs:





CAUTION: Be sure the socket fits squarely over the spark plug.


Installation
- Apply anti-seize compound or molybdenum-based lubricant to the spark plug threads.
- Tighten the spark plug to the specified torque.

Tightening torque: 9-20 Nm (7-14 ft.lb.)

- Re-install High-Tension Leads on to the spark plugs.

NOTE: Coat the entire interior surface of the High-Tension Lead boot with a silicone dielectric compound or equivalent.
