Clutch Switch: Description and Operation

Clutch Switch:

PURPOSE
The clutch switch signals the powertrain control module engine (PCME) that the clutch is either engaged or disengaged.

CONSTRUCTION
The clutch switch and the neutral switch are "ON/OFF" type switches. Both switches share the same PCME input terminal 1V.

OPERATION
The PCME uses the inputs in calculations for the control of these output systems and/or devices:
- Igniter (timing control)
- Fuel injection quantity
- Idle air control valve (idle speed)
- Purge solenoid valve (purge control)
- Pressure regulator control solenoid valves (fuel pressure)
- EGR solenoid valves (EGR operation)
- A/C cut-off.
