EGR Control Solenoid: Description and Operation

View: EGR Solenoid Valve (Vent) & EGR Solenoid Valve (Vacuum):

PURPOSE
The two EGR solenoid valves (vent & vacuum) provide for powertrain control module engine (PCME) regulation of the EGR system.

EGR System Operating Conditions:

OPERATION
The two (duty cycle type) valves enable the PCME to make continuous EGR adjustments as required under a wide range of operating conditions. To improve driveability, EGR operation is canceled below coolant temperatures of 55°C (131°F). Warm engine operation is as described on the image chart.
