Air Bag Control Module: Description and Operation

Air Bag Diagnostic Module R&R:

PURPOSE
Monitors components and harnesses in air bag system. Indicates system malfunction by flashing or illuminating system warning light.

OPERATION
If warning light is burned out, module sounds a warning buzzer. Detects short circuit between air bag module and ground or crash sensor malfunction and melts system fuse to prevent unintended air bag deployment. Contains back-up battery.
