Camshaft Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection


CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR
Inspection
1. Remove the distributor.
2. Connect the distributor connector.






3. Connect the Special Service Tools (SSTs) (Engine Signal Monitor and Adapter Harness) to the Engine Control Module (ECM) as shown.
4. Turn the ignition switch ON.





Camshaft Position Sensor (In Distributor) Specifications:





5. Rotate the distributor drive by hand and measure the output voltage.






6. After the inspection, install the distributor.
7. Start the engine and adjust the ignition timing.

Ignition Timing: BTDC 11-13°

8. Tighten the distributor lock bolts to the specified torque.

Tightening Torque: 19-25 Nm (14-18 ft.lb.)
