Evaporative Emissions System: Testing and Inspection

1. Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature.
2. Run the engine at idle.
3. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the evaporative emission canister purge solenoid leading to the charcoal canister.
4. Check that no vacuum is felt.
5. Place the transmission in neutral and depress the accelerator pedal.
6. Verify that vacuum is felt with the accelerator pedal depressed.
7. Disconnect the vacuum hose at the [1][2]purge flow sensor from the intake manifold.
8. Verify that vacuum is felt with the accelerator pedal depressed.
9. If vacuum is not as specified, check the vacuum hose and supply.
