POWER WINDOW
APPLICABLE MODELS
1995 - 98 B-Series with power windows built through 1/5/98
DESCRIPTION
The driver and/or passenger side door window may chatter during operation in the down mode. This may be caused by the glass guide bracket assembly. The bracket has been redesigned to reduce resistance during window operation.
Customers complaining of this concern should have their vehicle repaired according to the following procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Verify customer complaint
2. Operate the window down and stop approximately half way.
3. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
4. Remove the interior door trim panel (refer to Workshop Manual section S (09).
5. Peel back the watershield to access the area inside the door.
6. Drill out the two window rivets.
7. Remove the upper and lower assembly nuts.
8. Remove the entire glass guide bracket assembly.
NOTE:
The battery ground cable may need to be temporarily reconnected to operate the window motor during final removal of glass guide bracket assembly.
9. Install the new glass guide bracket assembly and tighten the nuts.
Tightening Torque: 11-13 Nm (91-122 in-lb)
10. Fasten the window to the glass guide bracket using two new rivets.
NOTE:
If rivets are not available, use two suitable bolts with nuts, flat washers and lock washers. To ensure nuts do not come loose, apply Locktite # ) 241 or equivalent to bolt threads.
CAUTION:
Do not over-tighten nuts as this may cause window breakage.
11. Reattach watershield and install door trim panel.
12. Verify repair.
