Input Devices

INPUT DEVICE
Mass Air Flow Sensor
^ If the mass air flow sensor or circuit has an open or short, Diagnostic Trouble Code No. PO102, PO103, P11OO, or P1101 is output.
^ A malfunction in the mass air flow sensor circuit may cause a lack of power, poor acceleration, hesitation at drive away or vehicle shake on deceleration.

Intake Air Temperature Sensor
^ If the intake air temperature sensor or circuit has an open or short, Diagnostic Trouble Code No. PO112, P0113, or P1112 is output.
^ If the intake air temperature sensor circuit fails, no particular symptom will be noticed.

Throttle Position Sensor
^ If the throttle position sensor or circuit has an open or short, Diagnostic Trouble Code No. PO121, PO122, P0123, P1120, P1121, P1124 or P1125 is output.
^ If the throttle position sensor circuit fails, rough idle, poor acceleration or shift shock (AT) may occur.

Heated Oxygen Sensors
^ If a heated oxygen sensor or circuit has an open or short, Diagnostic Trouble Code No. PO131, PO132, P0133, P0135, P0136, P0138 or P0141 is output.
^ If a heated oxygen sensor circuit fails, poor fuel economy may occur.

Camshaft Position Signal
^ If the camshaft position signal circuit has an open or short, Diagnostic Trouble Code No. P0340 is output.
^ If the camshaft position signal circuit fails, the engine may stall and may not restart.

Crankshaft Position Sensor
^ If the crankshaft position sensor circuit fails, the engine may stall and may not restart.

A/C Signal (Air Conditioning Pressure Switch)
^ If the NC is on during the diagnostic trouble code check, Diagnostic Trouble Code No. F1461, F1462, or P14639 is output.
^ If the circuit is open, wide open throttle A/C cutout will not occur.
^ If the circuit is shorted, the A/C will not operate.

Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor
^ If the engine coolant temperature sensor or circuit has an open or short, Diagnostic Trouble Code No. P0117, P0118, P0125, P0126, P1116 or P1117 is output.
^ If the engine coolant temperature sensor circuit fails, no torque converter lockup will occur (AT).

Brake On / Off Switch
^ If the brake on / off switch or circuit has an open or short, Diagnostic Trouble Code No. P0703 or P1703 is output.
^ If the circuit is open, torque converter lockup will not disengage (AT).
^ If the circuit is shorted, the stoplights will not operate and torque converter lockup will not occur (AT).

Vehicle Speed Sensor
^ If the vehicle speed sensor or circuit has an open or short, Diagnostic Trouble Code No. P0500 or P1500 is output.
^ If the vehicle speed sensor circuit fails, no 3-4 or 4-3 shifts or torque converter lockup (AT) will occur.

Transmission Range Sensor (AT only)
^ If the vehicle is not in P (Park) or N (Neutral) during diagnostic trouble code check, Diagnostic Trouble Code No. P1705 is output.

Power Steering Pressure Switch
^ If the power steering pressure switch or circuit has an open or short, Diagnostic Trouble Code No. P1650 or P1651 is output.

Fuel Pump Monitor Signal
^ If the fuel pump monitor signal circuit has an open or short, Diagnostic Trouble Code No. P0230, P0231 or P0232 is output.
^ If the circuit is shorted, the fuel pump will not operate and the engine will stall and not restart.

Differential Pressure Feedback EGR Sensor (MT only)
^ If the differential pressure feedback EGR sensor or circuit has an open or short, Diagnostic Trouble Code No. P1400, P1401, P1403, P1405, or P1406 is output.

Octane Adjust Shorting Bar
^ If the octane adjust shorting bar or circuit has an open, Diagnostic Trouble Code No. P1390 is output.

[1][2]Purge Flow Sensor
^ If the purge flow sensor circuit has an open or short, Diagnostic Trouble Code No. P1444 or P1445 is output.
^ If the [1][2]purge flow sensor circuit is open or shorted, no symptom will be noticed.

Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor
^ If the transmission fluid temperature sensor circuit has an open or short, Diagnostic Trouble Code No. P0712, P0713, or P1711 is output.
^ If the transmission fluid temperature sensor is open or shorted, erratic shifting may be felt.

Clutch Pedal Position Switch
^ If the clutch pedal position switch circuit is open or shorted, Diagnostic Trouble Code No. P0704 is output.
^ If the clutch pedal position switch is open or shorted, vehicle will not start or speed control will not disengage properly or idle speed will be too high with clutch pedal depressed.

Turbine Shaft Speed Sensor
^ If the turbine shaft speed sensor is open or shorted, Diagnostic Trouble Code No. P0715 is output
^ If the turbine shaft speed sensor circuit is open or shorted, no symptoms will be noticed.
