Transmission Temperature Sensor/Switch: Testing and Inspection

Inspection
1. On level ground, jack up the vehicle and support it evenly on safety stands.




2. Loosen the oil pan mounting bolts, and drain the ATF into a suitable container.
3. Remove the oil pan.

4. Remove the control valve body and solenoid connector.




5. Place the transmission fluid temperature sensor in water with a thermometer as shown and heat the water gradually.




6. Measure the resistance between the terminals. If necessary, replace the ATF thermosensor.
7. Install the ATF transmission fluid temperature sensor and connect the connector.

Tightening torque: 6.9-8.8 Nm (61-78 in.lb.)




8. Install the oil pan.




9. Pour in ATF, and with the engine idling, check the ATF level and check for leaks.
