EGR Valve Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection

OUTPUT VOLTAGE INSPECTION


View: Special Service Tools:





1. Connect the special service tools (SST)s to the engine control module (ECM) as shown in image.

2. Connect a vacuum pump to EGR valve.


View: Test Specifications:





3. Turn ignition ON (engine OFF) and measure voltage as shown on image chart.
4. If not correct, check wiring harness from sensor to ECM.

RESISTANCE INSPECTION


View: EGR Valve Position Sensor Terminals:





1. Unplug sensor connector.
2. Connect a suitable ohm meter to sensor terminals A & B.
3. Measure resistance between terminals A & B.

Resistance: Approximately 2.7k Ohms.

4. If not as specified, replace EGR valve assembly.
