Power Steering Pressure Switch: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
Signals engine control module (ECM) when power steering system pressure increases in conjunction with turning the steering wheel. Enables the ECM to compensate for increased engine load from the power steering system.

OPERATION
Switch is ON (shows continuity) when steering wheel is turned and system pressure increases to provide assist.

The power steering pressure switch affects the operation of the following ECM output systems and/or devices:
- Fuel injection quantity
- Idle air control valve (idle speed)
- A/C relay (A/C cut-off control system)
