Neutral Switch (MTX)

PURPOSE
The neutral switch signals the engine control module (ECM) that the gear selector is either in neutral or any other position.

CONSTRUCTION
The neutral switch and the clutch switch are "ON/OFF" type switches. Both switches share the same ECM input terminal 1V.

OPERATION
The ECM uses the inputs in calculations for the control of these output systems and/or devices:
- Ignition control module (timing control)
- Fuel injection quantity
- Idle air control valve (idle speed)
- Purge solenoid valve (purge control)
- Pressure regulator control solenoid valves (fuel pressure)
- EGR solenoid valves (EGR operation)
- A/C cut-off.
