Transaxle Range Switch (ATX)

PURPOSE
Prevents starting the vehicle except when gear selector is in "P" or "N" positions. Signals engine control module (ECM) of gear shift position.

OPERATION
The transaxle control module (TCM) monitors the switch signal and relays gear select information to the ECM.
The transaxle range switch affects the operation of the following ECM output systems and/or devices:
- Fuel injection quantity
- BAC Valve (Idle air control valve-idle speed)
- Purge control system (purge solenoid valve)
- A/C relay (A/C cut-off control system)
- Ignition control module (ignition timing control)
- EGR solenoid valves (EGR operation)
- Pressure regulator control solenoid valves (fuel pressure)
- Transaxle control module (TCM)
